THE RING EXHIBITION
30 January – 3 May 2026
From 1 March 2026, after ten years, Teatro alla Scala presents a new production of Richard Wagner’s Ring des Nibelungen, conducted by Simone Young and Alexander Soddy and directed by David McVicar. The production marks exactly 150 years since the work’s first performance in 1876 and 100 years since the first staging of the Tetralogy at Teatro alla Scala in 1926.
In conjunction with this historic event, the Museo Teatrale alla Scala presents, from 30 January to 3 May 2026, an exhibition entitled “The Revolution of the Ring – Visconti Ronconi Chéreau”, curated by Giovanni Agosti with exhibition design by Margherita Palli. The exhibition is dedicated to Pier Luigi Pizzi, set designer for Die Walküre and Siegfried in Luca Ronconi’s La Scala production.
Meanwhile, starting from 30 January, the panels of the Ridotto dei Palchi “A. Toscanini” will host “Wagner Resonances – Visions around the Ring”, an exhibition curated by Gianluigi Colin and Mattia Palma. The show explores the legacy of Der Ring des Nibelungen through an exhibition project featuring four contemporary women artists.
