The Great Factory, 240 years of Alla Scala Theatre, from Piermarini to Botta

La Scala has always been the principal mirror of Milan and its transformations: Theatre of boxers built in solid stone after the fire of the Court Theater, the Piermarini building has welcomed a society in constant evolution, reflecting its development, from the changes in the furnishings and in the decorations on the stage, always avant-garde.

The recent and courageous renovation lead by the architect Botta, completed on schedule, is a new testimony to the ability of our theatre and of Milan to rethink itself according to the new functional, artistic but also urban planning needs while maintaining the right balance between constant renewal and conservation of a historical-architectural heritage which is now the heritage of all humanity.
