The Archives and the Library

Room 9, on the second floor, is home to the Scala’s historical memories. You will find engravings from drawings by La Scala’s architect, Giuseppe Piermarini, or Giuseppe Franchi’s terracotta model for the tympanum of the Theatre’s façade. Then, there is the original poster for Verdi’s Nabucco from the 1842 season.

The Museum Library contains more than 150,000 volumes and thirty manuscripts of complete works (including Verdi’s Requiem Mass and Rossini’s Tancredi), as well as single sheets by composers such as Beethoven and Mozart.

The second floor is also the place where we hold temporary exhibitions.
